How do you open the minimap in Xaero? ›

The first control you need to know is W, which opens a larger version of the minimap, allowing you to see greater distances. To access the mod settings, press Y instead. Here, you can configure most features of your minimap, such as the radar, size, shape, and more.

I play on this modded minecraft server, and the modpack used for it has Xaero's minimap and also the world map installed. For some reason, everyone's location is displayed on the map in the form of an icon of their player head.

In many games using a mini-map, the mini-map begins completely blank, while the map is automatically drawn as the player discovers new areas of the game world. After players discover new areas, the terrain of the discovered area often remains visible on the mini-map.

The Xaero's Minimap is a mod, so the entire jar file without being modified must go into the mods folder, otherwise it will not work.

By default the game has maps, but their range is limited and requires resources to create them. Xaero's Minimap, a Minecraft mod, solves this by automatically displaying a map in the corner of your screen. It can be tweaked to show specific entities, add waypoints, and much more.

Minimap Settings

To do this, you need to open the settings section, and find the General tab. Scroll down, and you will see several map parameters.

All of these settings are made available through the Server Admin tab in the settings manager. To get to the Server Admin tab, open the full-screen map and click the settings button at the bottom, or press the O key. Finally at the top, click the Server Admin tab to get to the server side settings for the mod.

This mod is mostly client-sided. Installing it on the server side is optional for some additional features like world identification.

Unlike many other minimap mods, Xaero's minimap keeps the aesthetic of vanilla Minecraft. This is the FAIR-PLAY version of the mod designed for fair PVP. Features like cave maps and entity radar are disabled in this version of the mod.

While in-game, open the Mods Menu by pressing right-shift (default keybind). Search for and enable the "Minimap Mod." A graphical minimap for Minecraft will display on your screen once enabled.
